Is age softening me?
Was at a casino with the Mrs last night and lots of groups of blokes were in for the boxing on the big screens. I wasnt taking much notice until the noise levels increased and people were getting excited. It suddenly saddened me that people were so enthused as some boxer was getting pulverised. And yes i know everyone has their favourites and the beer was flowing but i still felt uneasy at so much joy being expressed as someone was getting mullered. I never used to feel like this about boxing when i was younger,is it just me or are there any more old cunts feel this way?

Never really cared about boxing. Besides the highlights it seems pretty boring.

But you’ve got to admit that boxers see themselves as warriors and take pride in their fights. That’s very different from some poor innocent fucker getting beaten up in the streets.

I imagine these aren’t proper boxing fans more just young knobs who like the idea of someone being beaten to a pulp and aren’t smart enough to realise the consequences.
Sorry to sound ancient ... but back in my day ... if there was a fight there was usually a general etiquette that if someone was beaten the fight stopped. These days there doesn’t seem to be that mentality so you see little scrotes sticking knives in people and outnumbered kids beaten to death.

Proper boxing fans want to see a hard fought contest with both fighters giving their all and for it to be stopped so that both can walk away at the end when one has won the fight.
So, it’s more maturity than turning soft.

Of course the cunts baying for blood would wet themselves if anyone swung a punch at THEM

Its a group mentality when people are pissed they join in cheering and shouting and have no idea of whats going on.

Never liked boxing.

However, I was covered in blood (MY blood) from a collision playing football a week and a half ago, and playing again (against medical advice) three days later.

Obviously, I've always been soft.

DLC..Its not so much the boxing side if it,more tbe amount of pleasure some folk derive from seeing someone getting clobbered is the thing that saddens me.

I too am an old bastard and I can concur that as I have aged the joy of watching two mental midgets pummeling the living snot out of each other has diminished. In fact I generally find myself watching most sporting endeavors and rather than reveling in the spectacular acts of physical exertion and skill, I find myself thinking that "Ohh, he will feel that in the morning."
